Over the past few months, work occurred at the Gustav Stickley House in preparation for Phase Two. DeBlois Renovate & Remodel were contracted for this work. In the attic, old insulation was removed but the big transformation took place in the basement. For several decades, the house was divided into apartments. During Phase One, fixtures from the on the upper floors units were removed but much of the basement apartment remained. All that changed over the summer and by the end of September, things looked a lot different. Old flooring, wall partitions, electrical wires and plumbing were removed along with the apartments defunct heating system. Now the space is a clean slate for new construction.

On the first floor, the Inglenook also received some welcomed attention. A portion of the south wall as well as the fireplace mantel were replaced with salvaged American Chestnut by skilled carpenter Mark Bell. These updates bring the Inglenook a little closer to its Stickley Era appearance.  In addition, new replica floor tiles have been made by Shenfield Studio. These tiles will be used to repair the existing front entryway floor and as part of the new public entryway floor in the rear addition.

We greatly appreciate the all work and craftsmanship taking place by as we move ever closer towards restoration.
