As described in the application, the funds “will restore the historic first floor, construct a second stairwell and ensure accessibility by adding an elevator and restroom. Completion of Phase 2 will maintain and preserve the integrity of the historic elements, and allow public access to the building’s most significant interior spaces, creating a unique educational and tourism destination.”
In addition, the Foundation has been notified by New York State Senator Rachel May, that the project will receive an additional $500,000 grant as part of a NYS Community Resiliency Economic Sustainability Technology Program (CREST). The goal of this program is to improve the quality of life for NY residents
These grants will allow us to begin the interior restoration of the house (Phase II) in the coming year. We are so appreciative of the support we have received from our state and local public officials.
