The Gustav Stickley House Foundation Announces a Capital Campaign to Complete the Restoration of the Gustav Stickley House in Syracuse, NY.

 

Joanie Mahoney & Thom Filicia Named Co-Chairs of Campaign.

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – David Rudd, President of The Gustav Stickley House Foundation (GSHF) Board of Directors today announced a Capital Campaign to raise $2.2 million over two years to complete the restoration of the Gustav Stickley House located at 438 Columbus Avenue in Syracuse, NY.

 

Joanie Mahoney the Former Onondaga County Executive and current Chief Operating Officer at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and Thom Filicia, a native Syracusan, award-winning interior and product designer, best-selling author, Emmy- winning television personality and influencer have agreed to Co-Chair the Capital Campaign to restore the interior of the Gustav Stickley House.

 

“I am thrilled to be part of the Campaign to restore this incredibly important house in Syracuse. The Gustav Stickley House is a jewel in our community and a significant historic structure with international importance,” stated Mahoney.

 

“Syracuse holds a special place in my heart, and Gustav Stickley has an incredibly important legacy as one of the originators of the American Arts and Crafts Movement that helped guide social change beginning in the early 20th century. We have to restore this house and celebrate Stickley and his many contributions to Syracuse and the central New York community,” said Filicia.

The Capital Campaign Committee is planning its first public campaign event at the Everson Museum on March 5th from 5pm-8pm. A Reception will be held in the Green Room prior to viewing the Syracuse premiere of “Gustav Stickley: American Craftsman.” The feature-length documentary created by Director Herb Stratford covers the life and works of Gustav Stickley as told through interviews, archival photos and some of the best and most iconic pieces created by Gustav Stickley and his companies.

Tickets for the Everson Event are $50/person.

The fundraiser includes a ticket to the premiere of the Stickley documentary, and a private tour of the Everson’s ceramic collection by Garth Johnson, Curator of Ceramics, and light refreshments.
